Columbus Crew signs Jacen Russell-Rowe on short-term loan deal from Columbus Crew 2


COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew announced today that they have added Columbus Crew 2 striker Jacen Russell-Rowe (pronounced: JAY-sen, as Jason) to the first team on a short-term loan deal. Russell-Rowe is available for selection for the crew game against Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium tonight, Saturday May 28 [7:00 p.m. ET / Bally Sports Ohio, Bally Sports App (Stream) / 97.1 The Fan, (English); (Spanish)].

Under MLS rules, the short-term deal allows clubs to sign players on loan from their affiliate MLS NEXT Pro for the MLS, US Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.

The 19-year-old forward joined Crew 2 on March 18 ahead of the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season. To date, Russell-Rowe has made eight regular season appearances (six starts), scoring in each of his last six games and providing one assist. The forward is currently tied for most MLS NEXT Pro regular season goals with Tacoma Defiance’s Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez.

Prior to joining Crew 2, Russell-Rowe played for the University of Maryland from 2020-2021, making 26 appearances, scoring four goals and adding five assists. The Canadian striker also made an appearance for Toronto FC II of the USL League One during the 2019 season. At international level, Russell-Rowe has represented Canada’s National Men’s Under-17 Team, notably in participating in the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, where he scored two goals in three appearances.

Columbus-area fans are invited to Away Days at the Pub at Field to watch the Crew – Atlanta United game with other fans tonight. The Pub is open to the general public and doors open at 6:00 PM ET. Discounted food and drink will be available for purchase, with TVs tuned to the game.
